To scientists, laughter is no joke — it's serious

Always figured laughter was something you can't control.

Stand and Deliver

If you never seen this movie you owe it to yourself to watch it sometime.

Jaime Escalante dies at 79; math teacher who challenged East L.A. students to 'Stand and Deliver'

Sadly, none of my math teachers inspired me to pass my math courses all the way up to Calculus II, but watching this movie did.

memory leak in Windows 7

Oh great a memory leak in one of Windows 7 main processes!
A memory leak issue occurs in the Audiodg.exe process when you play audio on a computer that is running Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008

'Supertaskers' That Can Drive and Talk on Phone Rare

Yup. Genetic freaks.
Just like beauty or brains.

Not suprising just like the crazy lady on Youtube that can talk like freaky fast because a part of her brain is larger than most normal folks.

I am proud to be gay, says pop star Ricky Martin

Did this really suprise anyone?
Now we just have to wait for Beckham to admit it.

Puerto Rican pop star Ricky Martin has announced he is gay, ending years of speculation over his sexuality.

Actually, this will make my Mom and sister sad since last time I spoke to them I was rubbing it in their face that he was gay and they didn't want to believe me. Now I feel kinda bad :(

LOST tv show

I don't know why it's so highly rated by people since some episodes aren't that good. I mean if you ever watched Battlestar Galactica , Smallville or Dr. Who I never remember seeing a bad episode or one that made me want to watch stopping future episodes. Hero's also started off good like Lost. First 2 seasons really good and kept you interested then started getting repetitive and dumb, etc.
Then again maybe it just depends on the person's taste?

RECURSION AND HUMAN THOUGHT: WHY THE PIRAHÃ DON'T HAVE NUMBERS

Dan Everett believes that Pirahã undermines Noam Chomsky’s idea of a universal grammar.
Well I can tell you from personal experience that if I was a betting man I'd bet against recursion because I don't believe it's built into anyone's brain.
I know it didn't come natural to me and took many years to even understand what it really means.
I mean turtles all the way down?
What's that supposed to mean?

How we Teach Introductory Computer Science is Wrong

Makes sense to me.
I've seen beginning programmers give up and even cry when they aren't given enough guidance or assistance LOL!
That's when Educational Psychologists began to question the idea that we should best teach problem-solving by having students solve problems.
This was most blatant in my college Physics courses where the instructor just stood there stopping his foot just waiting on students when he didn't provide enough guidance.

The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.

Didn't know this was another Bertrand Russell quote.
The man was obviously of a superior intellect.

Strange Windows 7 compatiblity bug

This is one of the reasons businesses are hesitant to upgrade from XP because if Microsoft doesn't even catch simple compatibility bugs like this in their own products...
Visual Studio products cannot be Upgraded when installed on Windows 7 operating system.

Quantum mechanics applies to objects that can be seen by the naked eye

This one thing that always bugged me about quantum mechanics(why am I able to sit in my chair and not fall through if it's all based on probabilites? Is Schrödinger's cat dead or alive? etc) and used to asked my Physics teacher in HS and college and they never gave me a good answer.
Well now these guys seem to give a pretty good answer.

Dirty joke

I don't usually laugh at these but this one is really good and funny as hell LOL:
Larry gets home late one night and his wife, Linda, says, "Where in the hell have you been?"

Larry replies, "I was out getting a tattoo."

"A tattoo?" she frowned. "What kind of tattoo did you get?"

"I got a hundred dollar bill on my privates," he said proudly.

"What the hell were you thinking?" she said, shaking her head in disdain. "Why on earth would an accountant get a hundred Dollar bill tattooed on his privates?"

"Well, one, I like to watch my money grow. Two, once in a while I like to play with my money. Three, I like how money feels in my hand. And, lastly, instead of you going out shopping, you can stay right here at home and blow a hundred bucks anytime you want."

I wouldn't hold my breath LOL!
Actually, the fact that they are smart enough to cover their asses will make sure they never go to jail unless they get bit with some sort of remorse like Madman Madoff!

Objective C's lazy type checking getting annoying

Kinda reminds me of writing PHP code where you don't realize you have a typo until your program crashes and burns at runtime!!!
I accidently typed NSStringwithFormat instead of NSStringWithFormat and that caused my iPhone app to crash.
You'd think XCode's autocompletion would help but so far it just seems to get in the way more often than not :(
Oh well I guess I will learn to hate it less the more I use it.

I just removed these drivers after verifying that the fan on my Nvidia card is stick at 40% even under stressful GPU games and applications leading to high and possibly dangerous temps!

This explains it all.
Like that one song from the 90's that went something like "people are having sex" and they don't even realize it LOL!

Could DRM suck any more?

the outlets and actions got moved to the Library window in Interface Builder 3.2

If you are following the Stanford iphone programming video's you will get lost at around 39 minutes into first lessson if you don't know about this major change!
Very annoying since I first assumed it was a bug with Interface builder.
I guess what I'm starting to find out is if you are following any iPhone programming video's or tutorials make sure you are using the same version otherwise you might lose some precious time as I did trying to figure out what went wrong!

Intelligent men 'less likely to cheat'
The modern world no longer confers such an evolutionary advantage to men who have several sexual partners - but it is only intelligent men are able to shed the psychological baggage of their species and adopt new modes of behaviour

Other "evolutionary novel" qualities that are more common among people of higher intelligence include liberalism and atheism, his study indicated.
