Moving a MS SQL database to a new location

How to move SQL Server databases to a new location by using Detach and Attach functions in SQL Server

This is probably the most straight-forward explanation I've come across on how to do this.
I used it to move my 5GB Thumbsplus database from my raptor that was running out of space to a larger drive and I followed the directions in the article and it pretty much went smooth except I got a permissions error of some sort which I easily fixed by running SQL Server Management studio as administrator :)
Also, I used SQL2008 but this article only applies to SQL2005 and older it looks like.
You are supposed to look at SQL Server Books Online for 2008 but that didn't help me any.

Lost the inconvenient truth

"The whole show was a 6 year money making scam with a kick- in-the-head finale. It could have been over in the first episode. Plane took off. Plane crashed. Everyone died. End of story.......but...

The writers were responsible for creating interest so everyone would watch each week. All the unanswered questions and cliffhangers were intended to make you come back again. It has been said before that the writers made up the story as they went along. Most likely true.

As people developed a likeness for certain characters, their acting parts were expanded on. The creators of the story protected their investment. If the actor created a fuss about time on screen or if the public disliked a character enough, they could be written out of the show with little or no explanation. If they wrote someone out and received a bunch of flak about, they could be written back in via flashbacks, flash forwards or flash sideways.

As interest waned, the writers created a new characters or situations to create new questions. This show could have gone on forever in this mannar, but even the writers ran out of new ideas eventually.

The finale was pre-planned from the beginning of the show. Everyone says the story is all about Jack. Possibly, but it didn't have to be. Could have been any one of them at the end closing his eyes. The public woudl have accepted this from any of the loved charaters. This protects the writers against a contract dispute sometime during the series.

Dharma, polar bears, smoke monsters, nuclear bombs, submarines,"others", sub sea bases etc. These ruses were all added a-la-carte as the show progressed. You can bet that six years ago, the writers had no knowledge that these would be part of the story.

The makers and cast of LOST are all sitting back, with their wads of cash and laughing at all the publicity, questions, speculation and discussion. Get over it folks. It was intended to entertain and make money. It did that. But those of you trying to tie loose ends up, looking for answers...there aren't any. None were intended, No explanations, No final resolution. And why would they. Now you will still be discussing it for years to come. What more could a writer ask for?

The plane took off. The plane crashed. Everyone died. The rest is just stuffing. Get over it."
QFT!
All I can add is that I"m glad I wasn't one of the suckers that waited 6 years for this and watched all 6 seasons of the show on Hulu in the last couple of months instead.
I would've really been pissed if I had followed this show for 6 years and had to put up with this ending!

Lost is over

Okay saw it come and go and I'm sad to say it was basically one of my favorite movies "Jacob's Ladder" dragged out to 6 years as I suspected :(
Don't know why I"m suprised since they were pretty blatant about the whole think with a literal jacob's ladder going down to the cave by the ocean DOH!

6 1/2 hrs to properly test a 2TB drive

OMG don't want to have to do that again anytime soon!

Lost series finale: did the writers have any answers to begin with?

Unfortunately, the way they needlessly and blatantly killed of characters I'm betting it's the latter and I'll be left even more bitter than when they killed off the real Locke if that's possible!
The reasons I say this is look at Walt?
It seems like they were testing things out with that character and it just didn't work out.
Also, I remember reading an interview with one of the actors on the show(I think it was the one that played Said) and even he didn't understand why the show's writers killed off so many of the main characters LOL!
Oh well I don't expect much tonight I just hope they kill Jack cuz I can't recall a more obnoxious character in a show I've watched in a long time and it's not a total waste of time...
http://www.beatweek.com/news/6195-lost-series-finale-did-the-writers-have-any-answers-to-begin-with/

Think this guy hit nail on the head and sums up the way I feel about the show and don't really care anymore since they killed Locke. Then again in order to keep people like myself interested in watching even though they "technically" kill him he's not really gone and in almost every episode as before but is now a fake Locke LOL!
So like he said it really is about the characters and everyone know's Locke is the most interesting.

it has reminded us of a fundamental truth of drama--that it's really all about the characters--and it gives us everything good about a sci-fi, except with a big, gaping hole in the middle.

Microsoft warns of bug in 64-bit Windows 7 Downplays threat with low exploit rating, recommends disabling Aero

Wow isn't this the same bug I've been complaining about in Irfanview for a while now!
Hence the BSOD in CDD.DLL which is the canonical driver!
The bug is in Windows' Canonical Display Driver, which blends the operating system's primary graphics interface, dubbed Graphics Device Interface (GDI), and DirectX to compose the desktop.

Bluescreens on both Ati and Nvidia videocards using the latest stable drivers so I doubt it's a driver issue as I said before.

Irfanview Version 4.27

I just noticed a new version so I downloaded it and tried to see if they fixed the bluescreen problem.
They didn't. Still crashes Win7 with bluescreen in cdd.dll.
Oh lovely.
See this prior thread on the long history of this problem:

Flash buggy

You didn't say.
Jobs does seem to have a point though since I just got this error on my Win7 rig:
Troubleshoot a problem with Adobe Flash Player
Adobe Flash Player has stopped working properly.

To troubleshoot this problem, follow these steps:

Flash player is not currently supported in 64-bit browsers. You can run Flash player in a 32-bit browser running on a 64-bit operating system. For more information, see the TechNote on the Adobe Incorporated website:

Error starting Outlook: "Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window."

This got this error today trying to open Outlook on my Windows 7 PC.
This is how I fixed it.
It was the 2nd result google returned. The first one was a dead end and talked about removing xp compatibility which wasn't the problem.
Now how one of my files got corrupted is more worrying than anything :(
This problem can occur when file that maintains the Navigation Pane settings becomes corrupted.

Finally upgraded slow 5200rpm drive in my Macmini

And this is how it greeted me:

Oh well at least it went a lot quicker than when I upgraded the ram.
One of the 3 wireless antenna's did come unattached so sooner or later you will break something!

Fixed it by inserting Snow Leopard install dvd.

Steve Jobs is a pretty good bullshitter

But I think he's trying too hard here:
"
Adobe has characterized our decision as being primarily business driven – they say we want to protect our App Store – but in reality it is based on technology issues. Adobe claims that we are a closed system, and that Flash is open, but in fact the opposite is true. Let me explain.
"
For example:
Having to explain yourself in the first place is already saying you have something to prove.
Anyways, if you cut through all his bullshit and get to the end you realize it really comes down to a business decision i.e. Apple's interest trumps everything else.
Relevant section I mean is here:
"This becomes even worse if the third party is supplying a cross platform development tool. The third party may not adopt enhancements from one platform unless they are available on all of their supported platforms. Hence developers only have access to the lowest common denominator set of features. Again, we cannot accept an outcome where developers are blocked from using our innovations and enhancements because they are not available on our competitor’s platforms."
Basically, he's saying that Adobe is sacraficing better Apple software in sake of cross-platform software and that's not acceptable to Jobs.
Jobs lost a bit of respect from me because of that, but then again that's nothing new.

I thought that was the whole point of creating parks in the first place?
